PRIDCO Announces “Green PRIDCO” Project: Installation of Solar Panels on Industrial Buildings
April 21, 2025
San Juan, Puerto Rico – April 14, 2025 – The Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO), Eric Santiago Justiniano, announced the launch of a project to install solar panels on the rooftops of industrial buildings owned by this public corporation. The announcement was made during the Cogeneration Day event, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Convention District in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“This initiative will provide an energy solution for the companies established in PRIDCO-owned properties. Our goal is to ensure that these companies are not affected by interruptions in electric service and also benefit from reduced energy costs at a standard rate. This initiative enhances PRIDCO’s value proposition to companies in Puerto Rico in two ways: offering the lowest rental rates in all of the United States and providing lower energy costs. This aligns with Governor Jenniffer González Colón’s public policy of implementing sustainable green energy projects, in compliance with the long-term objectives of Law 17 of 2019,” stated the Executive Director.
PRIDCO has already implemented this project in three buildings. Currently, a new company planning to establish itself in Puerto Rico requires that the building they will use provides this service. PRIDCO is currently in the process of recruiting and contracting a company to install a solar panel system over 28,000 square feet in Cabo Rojo.
PRIDCO owns 22 million square feet of rooftops, on which it aims to install green and sustainable energy systems.
